The Tagalog word Bayanihan, the title of Olivia Balcos’ documentary, refers to the Philippine tradition of community members organizing to help each other move the bamboo house from one family to another city when it needs it. There is no better image than this one to explain the spirit with which the members of the Philippine community of Seville relate to each other, more than 300 people who left their country and their families to work abroad and be able to send them money. The work of Olivia Balcos is a close, daily, exceptional look at this community that has been created over more than forty years.
