The Detroiter

This is the story of a first time. Jaylene Salas had never studied abroad before, but neither had any of her family members or best friends. What could this mean for them? How did it affect them? In her final project, Jaylene decided to ask herself these questions and ask them of the people closest to her, listening from a distance through her computer loudspeaker and recording with her telephone camera what her eyes saw, in a personal investigation that delved deeply into issues related to her personality and identity as a member of the Mexican community in Detroit. The result, an exciting encounter of mirrors that look at, reflect and perpetuate each other, is her final project.
